| Guilty Pleasure: MY TWEEZER ADDICTION |
| Written by MsPrettygirl | |
Confession: Hello everyone, I’m Ali and I’m addicted to using my tweezers. I need it day and night. When my tweezers are nowhere to be found, my room is turned into a complete mess until I find it. Talk about determination right? I bet you all are wondering why is this girl so obsessed with tweezers?...
Well my friends, unfortunately, I was blessed with a “Beard” as I call it. No need to be grossed out… yes, I am a woman and no it’s not really a beard lol. Let me tell you a little story on how my obsession started. It was about six years ago when I was on my way to the mall. This woman sat by me on the bus and I couldn't help but notice what was hanging from her chin. It was a beard! Yes this one was an actual beard! God forgive me because I shouldn't talk about anyone in that way, but man, I couldn't believe my eyes. Her beard was about 2-3 inches long and all I kept saying to myself, was “OMG I wonder if mine will grow out to be the same way!’’
From then on, I tweezed and tweezed. I told myself I would never let my “beard” get as long as hers. Back then, I didnt know anything about depilatory creams and I definitely was not going to shave my chin lol. It was never that bad or noticeable, however I knew it was there. Over the years, tweezing became a habit. As I stated at the beginning, it was something I did religiously.
But as the saying goes… too much of anything is never good for you; I now suffer from hyper pigmentation (dark spots) and hair bumps on my chin due to excessive tweezing. Embarrassing isn't it! Tell me about it.
In a nutshell, the purpose of me writing this was not to rant about my unwanted facial hair, but to spread the word about alternatives to tweezing. Sad to say, I still use my tweezers once in a blue moon, however, I now utilize other methods such as waxing and threading. Yes, threading may hurt a bit, but it’s all worth it.
So ladies remember, don’t make the same mistake I made by becoming a tweezer addict. Try other methods such as waxing, threading, depilatory creams etc. If all of these suggestions fail, visit a dermatologist and ask about laser hair removal or electrolysis. |
